Craftsmanship. Craftsmanship. Craftsmanship. The world has built with stone, from plinth, to monument, even citywide for as long as the material has existed. It lends itself in the landscape as a base to build upon or as a feature to boast, exuding poise and character. In the case of the residence on Portland's southwest hills, stone has been used to create terraces to allow a young family to utilize their yard with some ease; meaning less concern for critical drops in grade where their youngest member is concerned. Stone procured is local Columbia Basalt in the cut, curb stone.
